This read like an outline of the real story, and would have been great had it been written like Red Storm Rising. Gone is the detail about military hardware and tactics so loved in the early Clancy books, instead we get an armed conflict — with a love story intertwined — driven by character study rather than action.

Very disappointed in a book that is not a real Tom Clancy novel. Forget about a gripping spy novel and be ready for tiresome pages on war and political jargon. There is a story hidden among these chapters but there is too little of it.

The person writing the Jack Ryan story is not even close to Tom Clancy, so if you are looking for a Tom Clancy book you better buy his older books. This book was horrible, I will not be duped in to buying another one
